Tux (now called Buddy) was born in our care over 7 years ago to a momma dog who was a basset mix. He was adopted as a puppy but found as a stray in March 2022. His owner could not be located and he was readopted to a single retired women who had to return him resently (in 2024) due to her personal health issues. This sweet mellow dude has a calm temperament with soulful eyes. He has the height of the bassett hound but the size and coat like a flatcoated retreiver. He is housebroken, gentle and kind. He loves all children and is generally happy to see them and interact with them. He is currently fostered with 2 kids age 9 and 8. He is mainly indifferent to other dogs and cats. He happily lives among several dogs and cats with no issues what so ever. He has no prey drive and enjoys watching the wildlife on the porch. Buddy loves taking short slow walks and spending time outside in the sun. Buddy reminds me a lot of “Eeyore” personality from Winnie the Pooh but with happy engaging eyes. He would do well in almost any type of home but could also be a great companion for an older person or couple and he has thrived in a 55 and over community for the past 2 years.

Buddy has a history of general allergies and his previous owner has managed them by giving him over the counter allergy medication daily and cleaning his ears daily. She bathed him in hypoallergenic shampoo once per month and groomed his hair (cut it) monthly as well. He has a grade 3 heart murmur which does not seem to affect his general health.
