This is "Gemma", a dog adopted at 10 weeks from a local animal services to be a service dog for an autistic 13 year old..at least that's the story that was told. This 8 month old girl was more than likely sold on Craig's List to a gentleman that is known to collect dogs. The dog was found locked in abandoned home with no food or water. Obviously, there is a lot more to the story that we don’t know but when called to help we had a wonderful new foster step up to save this girl from the pound! Sweet Jemma is now safely in a foster home and looking for a new loving affectionate home that will keep her through old age! This is what her foster had to say: She is very submissive it seems with bigger dogs, little dogs she growled at (I think she was scared of them) but she's happy if you give her treats. Older kids she was good with, probably not young kids unless she gets very well trained, she is rather excitable and a bit heavy-handed. She was fine with cats, ignored them completely. She's not house broken, but is crate trained. She won't go in her crate, thankfully, because she has gone in the house. She doesn't seem to be a voracious chewer, and she's very mellow overall, content to lay next to you, though she prefers in your lap. Seems to eat whatever you give her as well. We are working on her basic commands now. She also did well in the car and was very mellow. Gemma is food/treat possessive with other animals but not humans More about GemmaGood with Dogs, Good with Cats Other Pictures of Gemma (click to see larger version):
