Dash is a great dog and has a wonderful personality. He gets along with everybody: other dogs, cats, and kids. His teeth are in outstanding condition for his age and he appears to have had recent dental cleaning/extraction. He needs to find an extra special home that will love him even though he is in his golden years. Dash has a wonderful temperment and enjoys snuggling on the couch and being held. He is all around a good ol’ boy and will make your heart melt with his loyalty and companionship. He does well off-leash in our unfenced yard and will not run away. Dash is 100% housetrained!

Like many older dachshunds, Dash has been diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral disc disease). It doesn’t seem to affect him much, as he still loves following his foster humans everywhere they go! Dash is now on some pain relievers to help with his spine issues. He should not be allowed to jump on and off furniture because of this condition and will need a ramp or picked up in order to get up or down on a couch.

Dash tested positive for heartworm disease, a disease very common in rescue dogs from Georgia, and due to his advanced age he is going through the slow kill method of treatment. All medications and preventions will be provided! The disease is only transmissible by infected mosquitos only and is NOT transmissible to other dogs within the home as long as other dogs are on monthly heartworm prevention.

Dash was found as a stray up in rural Georgia at a local church. The church ladies fed him for a couple of weeks until they realized he was abandoned. He made his way to us via transport to Florida with a group of other dogs. He is currently in a foster home where he will be very loved until he finds his forever home.
