Bart was owner surrender to a south georgia rescue after she escaped her outdoor pen and got to the chickens. They wanted him gone and the local rescue took him in.This poor boy must of had a unloved life because he gets ver nervous in new situations and needs about 24-48 hours to aclumate to new situations. He a shy boy but is learning love! This is what the foster who had him for 2 weeks has to say about him:

Bart was brought to us as an owner surrender from GA. He has most likely endured physical abuse for a while. When we first brought him into the house, he was unsure and startled very easily. Pretty quicky he started to settle in and really enjoyed playing with the other dogs in the house. Since he has come out of his shell, he has started to be more and more cuddly and loving. We have a 3-year-old in the home and he loves her. He enjoys playing with his toys but would much rather be in someone’s lap.

Here are a few things Bart’s foster parent think his adopter should know:

• He would be most happy in a calm home. Other dogs are fine so long as they aren’t rambunctious all the time. He is fine with kids that are respectful of what makes him nervous.
• Bart can be a bit possessive of people and toys with other dogs. He hasn’t caused any issue with the other dogs here but will be vocal if he feels they are encroaching on his space. He has not been possessive of his food at all.
• He was certainly abused so keep in mind that fast movements toward him startle him very much. He needs someone with patience and lots of love to give.
• He is crate trained and has good kennel manners. He sleeps in his kennel through the night without a peep and doesn’tfuss when you leave the home.
• He is house-trained but will need to get used to your schedule. I do have to take him out more regularly than the other dogs, but he learned very quickly where he was supposed to go if he needed to go outside.

Bart is heartworm positive But due to his young age and small size we Have started him on the slow kill method. He's received a pro heart injection which will work for 12 months and doxycycline for 30 days.
