Levi owner died and left 6 dogs with no owner. Levi had been neglected for about a year while the owner was ill. He was under weight and was in need of some love. He is a great foster who has this to say about him:

Levi is an amazing dog who is looking for a loving and supportive family. Levi has recently experienced a lot of loss and upheaval in his life, so it’s no surprise that he came pretty shut down to us. Levi is a good-natured dog who is timid and anxious. We’ve had Levi with us for about five weeks and he is only now starting to open up and feel comfortable. Levi is a fairly particular guy, and he has made up his mind on some things. He prefers male over female humans. He follows my husband and 15-year-old son around. He is devoted to them. My son put a doggie bed in the dining room for Levi to lay there while he does homework and that’s exactly where Levi is. Levi knows that I’m there for kisses and snuggles, and he definitely seeks me out for that. He does well with older children (we also have a 13-year-old and a 9-year-old). Levi is protective of his people. He patrols our backyard and watches over us. He loves car rides. He loves checking out everything. He’s pretty nosey. He’s not great at walks, but we’re working on that. Walks are better described as Levi’s smelling adventures. He’s a picky eater. We finally found a dog food he likes (Hill’s Science Diet), but it must be prepared a specific way (watered and then soft food mashed into it to make a gravy). He’s picky about his treats too. He LOVES hard boiled eggs and cheese (any way he can get it – Pirate Booty, Moon Cheese, sliced cheese, quesadillas) (and flavors – American, sharp white cheddar and Munster are top flavors, but he hates gouda). Levi is incredibly fearful of storms. The rain, thunder, lightning, and even the change in barometric pressure causes him to shut down and hide. Levi thrives in a structured environment. Levi doesn’t play with toys, but he loves to chew on bones and bully sticks. Levi is good with other dogs and ignores our cats. He would do well in a home with another dog. He doesn’t need to be crated when you leave. He is sleeping through the night. We let him sleep wherever he likes. He is house-broken, but he needs someone to be outside with him. He is fearful that he will be left outside and not permitted back inside. We give Levi a glucosamine supplement to help with his hips and back legs. Levi has a lot of needs, but he is definitely worth it all!

Levi is heartworm positive but has had full x-rays, bloodwork, etc. The vet considers him in good health for his age. He has typical arthritis any dog his age would have. He on slow kill method and needs to get heartworm prevention monthly.
